Retirement Online Notifications
Employers sometimes receive Retirement Online system notifications. These notifications provide important details about your reports or employees, and you may receive multiple notifications about the same matter for each employee affected.
It is important to review and act on notifications in a timely manner. Use the information in the table below to determine what is required and whether you can manually remove the notification from your panel. If you fail to act on a notification by the due date, the notification will be removed, and you will be contacted by NYSLRS.
To find notifications that apply to you, use the dropdown menu to select your security role. Then, click “Filter.”
- The Employer Reporting Submitter and Employer Reporting Uploader security roles do not apply to State employers.
- The Billing security role is not listed in the dropdown menu and does not receive any notifications at this time. (Note: this security role also does not apply to State employers.)

This notification informs you that a member has reinstated to another tier. This may result in a change in contribution rate. Please review this information and update your records accordingly. Once complete, you can remove this notification from your panel. |

This notification informs you when a member has reached the mandatory retirement age of their retirement plan. You can remove this notification from your panel. |
{Location Code}: Confirm Salary and Service for {NYSLRS ID} The member {Member Name} {NYSLRS ID}, SSN: {Member SSN} has reported to NYSLRS that they were employed at your location for the period between {start date requested by member} and {end date requested by member} as part of a Service Credit Purchase case (Case ID: {Case #}) open against the member. If the dates in question are after the member's start date at your location, and the member has not yet been reported for the report end dates, submit a regular report in retirement online with days and earnings; if the member has already been reported for these report end dates, then submit an adjustment report. To determine if the member has been reported for these end dates, please use the "Search Employee" feature in Retirement Online. If the service dates are before the hire date recorded in Retirement Online, then download, complete, and return the RS5120 - Monthly Salary and Service Certification ({link to document}) to NYSLRS. Once complete, please click on the 'Remove Notification' button to remove this notification. If the member did not work at your location between these two dates, please do not submit any reports and click on the "Remove Notification' button to remove this notification. This notification informs you that a member, who is purchasing service credit, has reported to NYSLRS that they were employed at your location. Please review the employment dates for the member (current or former). If the member is currently employed at your location, determine if they have been reported to NYSLRS using the "Search Employee" feature. If they have not yet been reported, submit a regular report with the member's days and earnings. If they have been reported, you can submit the days and earnings using an adjustment report. If the employment dates are from before the member's recorded hire date, please fill out the Monthly Salary and Service Certification form (RS5120) and upload the form in Retirement Online. If the member did not work at your location during the employment dates listed, please do not submit a report. Once complete, you can remove this notification from your panel. |

Please review these changes and make any necessary loan payment or service credit purchase payment updates beginning on the next available payroll cycle. If no changes are needed, you can remove this notification from your panel. If you do not manually remove this notification from your panel, it will automatically be removed after 30 days. |

This notification advises you that a member has applied for retirement. Please fill out the Statement of Accrued Payments and Leave Credits form (RS6221) and upload the form in Retirement Online. Action is required and this notification will be removed once complete.* If no action is taken, this notification will automatically be removed after 30 days. |

This notification advises you of a member's termination from employment. Please confirm the termination date with NYSLRS and take the final payments for this employee. Action is required and this notification will be removed once complete.* If no action is taken, this notification will automatically be removed after 30 days. |

This notification informs you that the report you uploaded has been accepted by NYSLRS. You may click the link in the notification to review a summary of the posted report and view the payment amount owed. Once complete, you can remove this notification from your panel. |
Member Enrollment Confirmation Please navigate to the Member Contribution Rates Page to review updated enrollment and reporting information. There may be more than one update reflected on this page. |
• Personnel Note: If the Personnel security role has not been assigned, this notification will go to the Employer Reporting Submitter. If that role has not been assigned, it will go to the Payroll security role. |
This notification advises you to review the latest member enrollment information for an employee at your location. Please navigate to the Member Contribution Rates page to review the employee's contribution rate, as it may have changed from the rate you received upon completion of the employee's initial enrollment. This notification replaces the paper correspondence you would have received. You will receive a maximum of one notification per day in Retirement Online; however, there may be information for several members for review. Action is required and this notification will be removed once complete.* If no action is taken, this notification will automatically be removed after 30 days. |
Employer Verification for Empl ID: {Empl ID} {Empl ID} has been confirmed as deceased. An Employer Verification Letter has been sent to your address to verify the member’s payroll records. |

This notification informs you that a member is deceased and that an Employer Verification Letter has been sent to you. Please verify the member's records and update your payroll accordingly. Note: Empl ID is the same as NYSLRS ID. This notification will automatically be removed after 30 days. |

Please refer to the "Last Updated Date" column on the Member Contribution Rates page to see the impacted members, and update their rates. |

This notification informs you that at least one employee at your location has a change to their member contribution rate as a result of recent legislation, which removed overtime from the calculation of Tier 6 contribution rates. Please review the Member Contribution Rates page to determine which employees were impacted and update their rates. Once complete, you can remove this notification from your panel. |
*If an action is required and has been addressed, the notification is automatically removed from your panel. If a user with the same security role as you completes the action listed in a notification, it will be removed from their panel immediately and removed from your panel on the next business day. |
